Scratch Built Tiger 1 1/8 scale
Re: Scratch Built Tiger 1 1/8 scale
Found a second adj for fuel....needle in carb barrel . Made a flywheel from 16mm plate and mounted on sprocket . What I thought was capacitors in the generators was in fact voltage trip overloads .Remember these are widow winder motors ..... Machine more controllable now on the flat but trying to climb a hill petrol motor bogs down and tank stops. On 18v drill battery goes up fine . Conclusion.... the 15 tooth sprocket on the motor is to big for the weedeater motor ...., over geared the generators so need to go down to 7 - -8 tooth ...2 to 1 reduction should give me the power I need ? We'll see !

Geared down to 10 tooth on the motor but still lack of power . On an 18V drill battery It can pull 50 AMPs as against 7 on the generators . In the process of this test I stripped one of the plastic gears . The traction Engine I built yrs ago has the same pitch gears ...16 DP and I made a Hobb for them so this is not a problem . But the lack of generator power and lack of space is .......Pics of cutting the teeth on the Lathe/verticle l slide

this build needs to be moved to a more appropriate section.

Have had to change the motors/generators , they would not deliver enough power . Have fitted a 24v /5amp Mig Welder Wire feed motor and machine is now able to " Wheelspin " climbing a step dirt bank as in one of the photos . I don't need full revs to achieve this either so very pleased with It. Now need to change the steering switch gear to DC variable voltage controllers , servo driven with a third servo for switching forward/ reverse . Then get on to finishing details . I have in mind a LPG gas firing gun like the bird scarers farmers use but think the small bore involved may defeat the explosion . Still thinking about this .

I follow your posts with interest and wishes for your success. I study the photos, trying to determine the orientation and purpose of all the parts. For example, I think I have found the carburetor, and I most certainly can see the newer, larger generator (motor). As you might understand, Hobbyman, all of this is rather amazing to me.
