Smoothing the Exhaust Covers.

Post by zooma »

It is easier to see what progress is being made when sanding the exhaust covers with 80 grit sandpaper after painting them.

Even when attacking the plastic with rough 80 grit sandpaper progress is very slow - this 3D printed plastic is really tough....and could be very good news if the drive sprockets and tracks are as tough!

I have had the poorly printed (hairy) gun crutch re-printed locally, and it is much cleaner so that will save me a lot of tricky cleaning-up.

Sanding back the large "easy to access" parts is taking some effort as the 3D printed plastic is much harder to sand than I was expecting to be - good tough stuff..

I tend to print some of the more detailed parts in resin.

I saw it on eBay and ordered it.

After weeks of waiting for it to be printed and delivered, it arrived safely with only the minor problems mentioned here to cause any concerns.

This untypical early spring dry weather and sunshine has given me other things to do that has kept me away from my tank building, but I am almost looking forward to some dull wet weather so I can get back to it 😱
