Hello!

Post by Wings0fPlague »

Hey there!

I'm Wings!

I work as an aircraft engineer, and aviation is my usual area of hobbies etc.
Not necessarily new to RC tanks, but definitely new to taking it seriously.
Previously I've been very into RC aircraft, and have a sizeable collection.
I've always loved tanks, especially soviet cold war machines, the T80UK being my favourite.
I look forward to chatting with you all, and engaging in the community!

Thanks!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
There's some Soviet cold war stuff out there that is quite nice. The HL T-72 and T-90 are great choices, and the T-34/85 is a very solid runner. A T-54/55 is made by Hooben but it's a tough build--you'll find several near-death experience threads about it on here.
Now if you 3D print, you can have your T-80 via the Cults-3D site, plus a bunch of other Russian models. Onward!

Mike.

Welcome. As Mike said, most of the really interesting modern Russian armor are 3D printed tanks. There are several variants of the T80 either available or coming soon. I know the T80BV is being released for printing soon.

Hello! The "RC" part of RC AFVs will be no challenge for you. The HengLong T72 and T92, commonly available, can allow for lots of fine detailing possibilities. The T34/85 in HengLong and Taigen/Torro is a winner. Many will prefer the HengLong slow running and steering. The Taigen/Torro can be a tad more detailed.

Thanks all!
I have a HL T90 already on the way, which I will be modifying/repainting to be captured/ukranian. I've been reading a lot of the build threads here about it already, and watched the mr tanks a lot T72 build videos, which i think will be the main inspiration. I already have 2x older HL panzers that I bought probably 5 or so years ago, and they're still going, but this will be my first time doing such extensive modifying and painting.

Cheers!
