Hi all, west sussex uk, newbie here

Post by stevemull »

Hi All
I am a 64 yr old retiree, live in Crawley Sussex, currently not driving due to a Hip replacement two weeks ago, and im Bored........

I am into RC planes, of which i have about 15 flying, and a few under restoration, deterioration, unflyable
Also have two RC yachts, that i race when mobile DF65 and DF95
Also Two RC Raf launches, around 36" long, both water compliant, and an RC car, that was bought for me, but good fun!
Also, all home made from plans or freestyle, An RC water Airboat, A K7 Blue bird edf (jet), A SRN5 hovercraft , all fully working.

So, i am into a bit of RC stuff, !!!

Anyway, ive now decided to add to my collection of "STUFF" an RC tank, !

i have bought a cheapie 1/16 tank of Ali express, more for just getting to grips on the workings, etc,

The plan being is to scratch make an A13 Crusader, as this is what my Grandfather was in ww2, and a Commander in, in North Africa, so in dessert scheme
i do have a couple of bad photos, of him, and various bits of the tank, that are definitely, Cruiser- Crusader depending on when he got an upgrade

Please send over any decent Crusader stuff, as its quite a rarity in the Tank world, as most go for the much bigger German stuff, or a Sherman, from what i can see
plus i like the Crusader, as its a bit weird

So, this is me, i dont bite, i spend to much time in the garage making stuff, and at least my Wife knows were i am,

regards

Steve

Hello and welcome to the forum Steve

From your introduction, it would appear you will fit right in

What do you mean by "Please send over any decent Crusader stuff"
I ask so that our members know exactly what you're after

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
Coolbank is likely to release a Crusader soon, a model has been seen running around. There's a thread on here somewhere showing the little rascal.
What's the cheapie tank you bought from Aliex?

Mike.

Hi

Thanks for the welcome, i should of said, that the Crusader will be 1/16th, i wanted to go 1/6, but dont we all, but if the smaller one is a successes, then i may go bigger,
If, any one has a 1/16 outline drawing of a Crusader, that is printable, that would be great, as ive created a plan from drawings, but having something more accurate to work with could be useful,

The Ali express, tank is a Type 10 tank, i cant say weather its a real or fictitious model, as it will be pulled apart and realigned to reflect a Crusader, also the
track /overall length was pretty well spot on for a 1/16 Crusader, however the track itself, is totally wrong, but no biggie, as its an experiment, to what can be built, and better, if i decide to take the project further

As i said, my fav time, if not rc flying or rc sailing, is mucking about in th garage building "something"

Welcome from Texas. One of our own members, Alwyn, has STL files for a Crusader to purchase in 1/16: viewtopic.php?t=32944&hilit=crusader+3d

Another Yank here, but I am eager for a Crusader to keep my Afrika Korps busy. Gee, it's is becoming increasingly difficult to rob banks at my age.

See, im not the only one who like something different, as in a Crusader,
Plus its nice for me, to have some family attachment to the tank
