Ok so to tie this together I really like how the Camo came out and after much debate decided to Chip, wear and weather the spare tracks on the sides of the turret. At first I wasn't happy or sure about it. But after several sessions I'm settling in and liking how it looks even though its rather stark and "rotoscope" looking I know after further weathering steps that it will blend.

First I cut the base coat with a little white and thinned slightly, Then using a sponge dry sponged it on-

Then again using the sponge I used Nato Black and sponged in the same spots as the lighter spots that I did to hopefully give a depth of the wear. After a few short sessions and breaks I've now used 10/00 and 20/00 brushes to connect some of the scratch marks.

I may do one more round of chipping

Still contemplating outlining the numbers. They clearly aren't perfect on the real thing-

Fiddly bits time.

Image

These little things are not my strong point so I try to work harder to make them acceptable to me.

This proper MG34 is going to actually be enjoyable. Fine details and well made. Got it from Battlefield models about 6 months ago and almost forgot about it.

Image

I did really try to fab this manual starter hand crank from leftover sprue but wasn't satisfied with my results. This is from an accessory kit for the Panzer IV. It's not exactly the same but looks like the right scale and I'll mod to fit and add some straps from brass PE trimmings.

Image

Any suggestions which part to cut and remove? I know it's supposed to be an "L" shaped handle but there aren't a bunch of pics of this accessory.

I'm also contemplating adding the tow cable clamps at the rear of the engine deck. Looks like only 4 in total to me.

And the Tiger continues...

The Battleground Models MG34 is very good. I used to use the Schumo MG34 but I prefer the Battleground one and it's ammo and boxes now. Combined with the superb Schumo mount it looks just right

Started some weathering.

Before=

After filter/pin wash using thinned Ammo/Mig Oil brusher and some good old Tamiya panel liner (gawd I hate the smell of that stuff).

Next up will be some modulation and dot filter with oils.

The goal is to be done this Sunday as I start work back up at the club next week.

It's really looking good Mr. Chef. I'm partial to the red numbers over the zimmerit myself. Here is the number on my late tiger although these were decals and will require some more weathering when I get the tank back
