Re: Returning to the Hobby
Welcome! I just recently joined the hobby and like Tigers too! I have a Heng Long (Early) and Taigen (Late) Tiger 1s. And I would say Taigen is my favorite! It's more expensive but I think it's well worth it!

@Herr Dr. - vielen dank.
Here are the the pics that I took ages ago. Thanks for the responses.
I will look around for the kit in the UK. If I go the RTR HL way, presumably I would have to get the 7.1 as an upgrade after the purchase?
@TigerMouse1 - both looking great!

"Presumably I would have to get the 7.1 as an upgrade after the purchase?" If you get a HengLong Tiger with a 7.0 do use it a bit first. I find the HengLong 7.0 with the stock transmitter quite fine for all my uses, with good slow running control and lots of control variations. In the past few years HengLong's newer TK 6.0, 7.0 and 7.1 have outdone Taigen in control and variety of running features. The only limit is that HengLong cannot match the variety of engine sounds Taigen offered, but the HengLong Tiger 1 sound is well done. What is more, Taigen seems to be asleep, so some of the firms that offered Taigen are selling HengLong, too while the U.S. Imex/Taigen is practically defunct for 1/16.

Re: Returning to the Hobby
The TK 7.1 is for servo control. The TK 7.0 is the same minus servo controls. If you don't have servos to control there's no advantage of the TK 7.1 over the 7.0.

Re: Returning to the Hobby
Hi.
I believe far most of us started with a Tiger 1 ?
So did I, back in 2018, and by now I do have 4 of these beasts.
Going from an Initial Production, to an Early, Mid and a Late Version.
3 of them are Taigen, and the Middle Version is a Torro one which doesn‘t run and is used as a deco only in photo shoots.
The HL 6.0-7.0 boards do run very smooth compared to the Taigen boards.
Maybe I do rebuild mine one day when I have nothin else to do….?

Good Afternoon!
1stly, Welcome to the Forum. Then Tigers is it? A Great choice of tank to build. RTR and Kits and 3D printing and PE provide a wealth of ways to model any Tiger from the War.
Here are a couple of my examples. A Tamiya Tiger build for a Friend and a Combo RR and Kit Late Tiger Build from a Friend for me to update. Looking forward to yours!
regards,
