I say paint them. Camo scheme that complex wasn't splorged on with gasoline and stale kero by some korporal painter guy. It was meticulously sprayed at the maintenance shops by Unterfeldweb Guenther von Analretentive. Never would've left the spare tracks on. Ever.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Plus it gives good contrast to the sweet paint job.
Mike.

Re: Opinions please, paint or not?
I surmise that if the thing was in need of heavy maintenance by the rear area crews and the repair extended to the area of the turret involving the track links, and also paint then yes they would be removed.
If not then I reckon they’d stay fitted.
If the tank was needing a repaint for change of theatre or unit directives they may be removed but I’d say that would be less common .
As long as the links were serviceable at all times it wouldn’t matter .
The first paint cover though would possibly be not over the links then subsequent ones over the top .

I think you should remove the injection pin marks on the spare links, they look great with the camo though, that's probably how they looks when they repainted the tanks on the field !
Re: Opinions please, paint or not?
Not sure how I feel about these. Granted its before any rust or pigments.

Very stark but I may go with it.
