Post by MrChef »

Here's a gathering of all the adhesives that I've collected in my short time doing this stuff.

I'm quite fond of the BSI CA glues-

Been a big fan of Shoe Goo for many years. Stick anything to anything, spread thinly or built up, it dries solid and clear but retains enough flex to stop it shattering like CA types. Also great for waterproofing. But yes, you need them all to get it right every time.

Then General is right! Nowadays, ShoeGoo is or has been copied as E6000, one of my favorites. Here's one discussion: viewtopic.php?p=350479&hilit=E6000#p350479

I don't see contact cement in your collection... best stuff ever! Strong as some permanent adhesives, but can be removed years later without damaging the material it's stuck on

this is a magic glue!
By its application in purified form you will understand that it is used for making dental fillings.
This version is for gluing any materials, for example, you can glue a bushing into plexiglass and it will work like welding.
In my submarine, the deadwoods are mounted in acrylic...

Uhu is the German for the Eurasian Eagle Owl, after which predatory bird a WWII German radar-equipped fighter plane, the He219 was named. The UhU is said to have an incredibly powerful grip with its sharp talons.

Looks like the Uhu Stabilit Express I'm using. Excellent stuff, much better than epoxy.

Stablit Express has become virtually impossible to purchase in the UK. Tried ordering some £18.99 with £29.99 delivery charge from a UK vendor on Evil bay.
