A Tiger needs its stripes

Post by jfulls94 »

So... I managed to grab myself a couple of bargains on Ebay - right on time as the Jagdpanther build starts to come to an end.

I haven't yet thought about any direction for the Tiger E or Panther G although there are plenty of things that need addressing before I start Image so for now here are some photos of them to begin with.

First things first this is a Built thread for the Tiger so here are what I have spotted so far that need addressing.

1. Torsion Suspension sag.
2. Cosmetic parts are missing.
3. Lower Glacis plate missing track.
4. Change out of BB turret parts for Cannon flash & recoil.
5. Possible gearbox change depending on performance.
6. Full electronics suite required ie. Clark/elmod.

This is only a rough list of "to do" I'm sure it will grow and change over the course of this build.

The PO really wanted those aircleaners to stay together! Gonna try the daring turret repositioning? Always fun turning a botched up bargoon into a proper tank!

Yeah, i think the plan is to get the plastic recoil turret and strip the guts out to fit into the current turret. Hopefully

Hello, well done, work in perspective? for the Tiger I it is indeed necessary to proceed with the recentering of the turret, in order to be consistent between reality and HL copy

That Taigen Panther looks quite nice as it sits. Could probably even get away with some markings, little details and weathering. Did it come from a different source than the Tiger?

The Tiger is a bit weird. Looks like the upper hull is brand new, the turret from another Taigen Tiger tank and the lower hull one of those unpainted versions you can get :D If I ever did another Taigen Tiger I would also get the plastic turret. Much easier to modify especially if you go for a mid or late version

Yes the Turret was painted by its previous owner, and the rest of it seems like a patch work quilt. Looking forward to getting stuck into it! My first Tank was built from all new parts this is a rebuild and I'm really looking forward to it!

Didn't notice this before, you mention about turret repositioning? Is the turret to far forward or Aft? I didn't even realise it would be necessary. Did Taigen make a mistake on the turret placement?

Well ... I wish I has never started this ... every single screw seized, most heads now rounded off as they where old and brittle and not to mention the abundance of lock tight. But I'll power through may even seek out a replacement hull and just drill out everything, Road wheels and motors are all seized on.

I want the motors off to adjust the suspension as it has saged down over time and the road wheels obviously to prep the wheels for new paint.
