Looks like nice swap for Tamiya upper body and base for Israeli M51 Sherman.

While it's good to have some Sherman in 1/16, that would be cool if they were releasing first the most produced ones, not the less produced ones like this one.

Luckily they are going to release the M4A1(76)W later this year. I think I'll buy this one instead of the M4A1E8.

That's pretty much how it looks. The most absurd is of course the Heng Long Sherman M4A3(105), of which only a handful were produced...

I heard it said that down the road from the Tamiya buildings was a monument HVSS M4A3 105 that gave birth to their first 16th Sherman in '74. Then it just got copied when the RTRs came out.

Funny how there has been such a resurgence in 1/16th model kits now that 3D printing makes just about any vehicle available to print. Now 1/10th vehicles are becoming popular as they are pretty cheap to print also. I think Andy from AHHQ has done a lot for the 1/16th scale popularity in recent years.

On the contrary no one has copied the HVSS suspension for any of the RTR tanks though. It is rather intricate and hard to cheaply replicate.
