SAVED FROM THE BIN

Post by HERMAN BIX »

This guy was found broken and in poor condition and as a fairly rare figure was a shame to waste him.
One of my mates is a genius with things like this and has tons of figure parts both spare and waiting to be assembled.
He’s given this joker a going over at a Day Spa & soon he will be back to his full glory!

That's some good painting! I really like the hood lining. What's the round white thing below the potato masher?
Now for some more "handy" painting and then "rifle" through the paints for some gun metal and wood stock.

I believe that is some blue tac or in this case white tac professor holding the rifle in a temporary state until it's been painted and permanently glued

Cheers, Lee.
Me ? Addicted ? Never !!

Yes Sir blue tack. Just to secure the bits in place while the glue sets. He is finishing the guy this weekend so I should have him soon.

Thank you, Model Builder 4 and Heerman Bix: Now I see that is a light (to me) blue. "Blu-Tack" just went onto my Amazon shopping list.

These two jokers are coming to a house near me very soon.
Both are recovered from forgotten figures and given new life.

Well, that's a fine revival with a great bonus! As I just came in from a brief walk in brisk wind and -10C, I think their cheeks are not quite red enough. :haha: :{

Got the boys home finally.
In order to prevent them getting damaged by falling over I have decided to make small bases for each.
Used 2mm flat styrene contoured onn the edge and brass round superglued in.
Drilled slightly loose holes into the heals of the figures so they can be pegged over the pins & onto the bases.
Ive added a bit of acrylic filler & garden stones to the upper surface which can then be painted & snow textured to suit.
Then if I ever need to place them in a different location I can just pop them off the base as required.
At least they wont fall over from a light knock.
The S & T figure with the Kar98 is a rare specimen now, they are a set which I now have.
Gotta look after them .
