Heng Long Challenger 2

Post by zooma »

I bought a new Challenger 2 from an overseas supplier that came with metal gearbox and tracks etc, but it has never run very well - in fact it has never run for more than 15 minutes in total so far, so I am gong strip it and try to rebuild it to make it run well.

The batteries that come with the tank are complete crap, a demo version.....
I recently bought a Merkava from HL, one section of the battery is completely discharged, 1.2 Volts.. It cannot be charged!

Heng Long Challenger 2. Wrong Section?

Post by zooma »

Unfortunately I started a thread about this particular tank on the Modern Tanks thread - before I realised just how much work would be needed to correct everything..........and before I saw the videos of Meter rat's very impressive Challenger 2 at speed ploughing across ground that my current crop of tanks would not even look at!

Looking at the amount of work that will be needed to correct this Challenger 2 and improve it (and the speed at which the thread has grown) I think the thread should be brought over here to MODERN BUILD LOGS where it would be more at home.

As a matter of interest, I am going to name the tank "The Rat Catcher" as I hope (when all the work has been done) to be able to catch the very impressive Challenger 2 that Meter rat is currently running!

Shown in Modern Tanks as:- Heng Long Challenger 2. Sprocket Problems .

I look forward to you bringing it up to Scotland, and it trying to keep up with Ya Bassa. I have a couple of tricks that I will keep back. :shh:

I am hoping to be able to rebuild my very disappointing Challenger 2 to perform as well as yours (Ya Bassa) already does, but I have a long way to go to achieve that just yet.

As my main guide and inspiration to gaining such a good performance increase I will need to see if I can find out or see what you may be hiding from The Rat Catcher to prevent this happening.......but I am on the case!
