I'm seriously considering fitting a battle unit in my HL Jagdpanther. But I've filled in the hole in the gun mantlet where the HL emitter would be fitted.
Where is the IR emitter fitted on the Tamiya Jagdpanther? I've looked at the tamiya jagds here but can't see it.

Re: IR Emitter
You will be pleased to know that Tamiya do not provide a built in emitter housing, it is a tube that clips onto the barrel, with a candy coloured cable that runs back into the upper hull. It is an eyesore, and is detachable, which is why you can't see it in pics. Owners only fit it when taking part in IR battles.
HL did quite a neat job with theirs...but you have filled their hole in.
You now have two options
Drill the hole out that you filled in.
Buy another mantlet - Forgebear has some.
HL didn't enclose theirs in an emitter focusing tube. Ideally you need the emitter inside a 10mm tube so that the IR beam only goes where the barrel is pointed. The standard HL emitter is surface mounted and scatters the beam, hence it will hit anything even tanks parked next to it.
Get an old biro tube, cut 10mm off it and glue it over the original hole, then just paint it to match the hull. It will be a much neater job than Tamiya made of theirs.

Re: IR Emitter
Tamiya Tiger 1 does come with an internal mantlet mount for the emitter. Other solutions are in the photos. I would never dream of going to a competition with an exposed emitter clipped on the barrel.
The JT is a fake IR night system, cobbled up in an hour or so.
Depth of the crown of the emitter to the business end of the tube should be 9mm, inside diameter should be 6mm. Any less depth and your shot will not be focused.
