another n00b needs advice

Post by schmerzdj »

Spoiler: show
sorry for so suddenly dropping t o- his revolutionary and groundbreaking thread....now everyone's day may as well be over, cause minds were so thoroughly blown and trying to make sence of this earth-shattering event we will be asked about in 20 years and where we were when it happened..... so here goes..... I a n00b and I would be grateful for some advice?......
ImageImageImage

so I want to do a 1:35 King tiger rc conversion.....
-firstly what controller board that is sized for roughly 1:35, and has lot of built in features or expandability to add them is best for the king tiger with those parameters?

what turret and gun traversing and recoil addons should I use (please link to a listing for any items u suggest) the I
keep getting out of stocks for the clarke turret and gun servos....

also what would 1:35 king tiger (not tamiya) should I be looking at? weather that's cause its built in a way to be condusive to conversion, is detailed, there's many aftermarket metal tracks and gun barrels or anything else that makes it unique....

any help to point me.in the right direction would be appreciated. at the moment there's just models that I know "diddly squat" about last like the electronics and I.will end up spending money and nothing fits.... lil

pre thankyou for your hopefully future help :p

Moved this out of the build section and placed it somewhere more appropriate.
I must say. For a first post after nearly 17 months membership, did you not learn anything about the ways of forum etiquette whilst you lurked ???

I have edited out your cuss word, don't use it again.

I just did a King Tiger (Tiger 2) rc conversion with 360 degree turret rotation. I have three of these in 1/35 scale. 3 channel conversion at this point. The built King Tiger shown here was one I bought used on ebay so it is a bit rough around the edges. The other one below is new in the box. Both are made by Nichemo.

I will do a video of the tank with its 360 turret rotation asap.

360 degree turret rotation continuous capability in either direction. Very useful with that long main gun barrel.

Nichshemo Tiger 2, or King Tiger with metal gearbox and wired remote control. These type kits are ideal for radio control conversion.

This one is set up with internal 1k mah 1s lipo. These big tracks require a lot of power to run. The all metal gearbox has been beefed up to handle the load.

Switch is on and ready to run. The 1.5 mm connector is for charging the internal battery.

Cool build as usual Modler. I'm intrigued by the gearboxes and how you beefed them up.
Poor ol' Schmerzdj musta blown his wad making his last post. Hasn't been back since 3 days after.

lol :D

Yes I have figured a way to repair these metal gearboxes. Its takes a soldering iron, solder, a precision grinder tool and or tips for a handheld mini drill. I will expand on this technique as I get the time. The Tiger 2 from ebay had a worn out gearbox. That is why I got it cheap. It works perfect now. No disassembly of the gearbox is required. You just use solder as "bearings" in the spots where there is slop in the axles and or gear shafts. ;)

This Tank has a Lemon 7 Channel radio with Telemetry. This allows battery voltage monitoring, signal strength and more.

Receiver ebay link with current reading adapter. (for 2s,3s)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/334801682155

The Lemon 7 channel with Telemetry also has a version without the current adapter for less money. You don't need the current adapter when running a 1s lipo application.

These Receivers work very well for Ground models as well as Aircraft. The interesting thing is that it works with a 1s lipo with Telemetry function. Its big and durable and works well. I like having lipo voltage with alarm so that I never overrun the lipp. They work with 2s,3s with ESC as well but can connect directly to a 1s lipo as the power supply. This one is running three ESC's and has 4 more channels available.

solder bearings visible on the center output shafts support and gear shafts throughout. This was a severely worn gearbox that now works like new despite it age and visabile appearance. WD-40 Gel Lube oil treatment keeps future wear to a minimum.
