Hello from E. Oregon, USA
I am 71, and have had two recent back surgeries. Why does that matter? Well, I have been in and out of R/C for a number of years, almost entirely involving aircraft. Since those surgeries, and as a way of entertaining myself during rehabilitation, I figured it would be far more easy on my back to retrieve a tank from my back yard, than an airplane or drone crashed in the pucker brush or trees in some desolate part of Eastern Oregon. So, I got a tank. The Toucan Henglong 1/16 Scale 7.0 Customized Abrams RC Tank 3918 360° Turret Barrel Recoil, to be exact.
It is supposed to be coming today, so of course, I have not used it yet. Looking forward to the build, and mods I will be doing. Also looking to connect with others, though it is a bit doubtful I will be able to find anyone in this area who has a tank track/course, so I may eventually do something in the back yard.
At any rate, looking forward to this new hobby, and getting advice from others.

Welcome to the forum. If you haven't discovered it yet we have a dedicated Abrams section: viewforum.php?f=136
Once your tank arrives I am sure you will be happy with it. I you do have to retrieve it from a tree, make sure there is a video of the event! Ask your questions, there will be plenty of help,

Welcome to the forum from New York,
Yep for sure the tank shouldn't get away from you like an RC airplane would, but back issues beware especially since you got the metal upgraded Abrams Tank. It's not small and these things can be heavy buggers. Heng Long are heavy enough when upgraded with metal, Taigen get heavier and then there's the Mato Full metal beasts. Why would I mention them all? Well because if you already liked RC planes then this RC Tank addiction tends come on hard and they multiply like rabbits.
Enjoy the addiction, errr new hobby

Welcome to the Forum
Plenty of good advice available for the Heng Long Abrams not the least of it to come from Barry C our tame Abrams expert,
but as he is at the other end of the lower 40 in Texas he might not be awake yet
Enjoy the Forum and join in any thread that you find interesting.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of info here and if you can't find it...ask. I now have two Abrams to finish thanks to Herr Doc.

Hello metaglypto! Despite some disadvantages (ahem) seventy-one is a good age. I am having so much fun. And I have a new Abrams, too, so obviously I heartily approve of your choice. Please do let us know when the Abrams comes to you (Toucan can be surprisingly fast, even when the AFV comes not from stock in the U.S., but all the way from China.) I check RCTW almost every day, and others are so familiar with the Abrams that they will know far more than me. Join the fun!

I think all my Christmas’s have come at once. Three new members and no Tigers

I too have an Abrams, which is currently on top of the wardrobe, whilst I squander money and time on my Leopard 1 rebuild and my Problematic Challenger 2.
