      I am flattered by your response Luke, thank you. Welcome to a great hobby filled with helpfull gentleman, amazing machines and expanding technology. I had done RC trucking the 80s and raced electric cars in the 90s. I got out of it when my girls were born. I got back into it five years ago when I bought two Heng Long Tigers for my girls for Christmas. In the two weeks before the Xmas my wife would take them out for airsoft battles after the kids were asleep. I then found the indoor battlefield in Danville, VA at the AAF Tank Museum. I bought a used Tiger I there from one of the "regulars". It was complete with radio system and TBS for $500 and was hooked for life. I began selling H L tanks and Video systems to support my hobby and have approx. 10 full option tanks (HL, Tamiya & Trumpeter). It is a load of fun and not ultra competitive. We have all ages and abilities. The "veterans" mentor the "rookies". Danville is barrier free for the handicapped and Henry who battles from a wheel chair will eat your lunch with his tank if you are not on top of your game.

Is the TV on top of the transmitter just a normal portable TV and the metal box receiver thingy somewhere else plugged into it or is it a special TV for 2.4GHz?  I notice on www.dealextreme.com they have special ones that pick up 2.4GHz and have SD card recording for 'portable surveillance operations'  The trouble is these no name Chinese TV recording things are about £140+ which could get you an elmod or part of an elmod or go some way into making the whole thing metal!!  Good thing the cameras are not expensive so a laptop with TV pickup could work!  Could be a use for my old IBM laptop right there!!

  I usually buy mine from Ebay or buy from  raidentech.com .  I get a better deal because I buy in quantity and save on shipping costs.  Raindentech is very reputable. They sell the system I use atop the transmitter. It is a 4 channel monitor designed to pick up the wireless mini cam signal for me to see and I use the small receiver box hooked up to the DVD recorder and TV for a hard copy disc. The cheap systems from China have proven to be 95% trouble free for me thus far. They cost approx. $50 w/o audio and a little more with audio. I brought the idea to the tanks from model trains about five years ago. Other guys hooked up VHS and Mini DVD camcorders strapped to the turrets. I'll make a wiring schematic for you use. They do make the mini monitors like the one in my photo that record onto a card but they are too pricey and are prone to interference/RF.  Some can be used with a laptop but I'm not very familiar with the venue.  :-[
