Dogberry wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 1:48 am I appreciate you have some Tiger reference works but if you can get hold of a copy of Germany's Tiger Tanks D.W. to Tiger I: Design, Production & Modifications by Thomas L. Jentz, Hilary L. Doyle
It is a brilliant reference work for the Tiger 1
It has one page which is a time line of all the changes to the Tiger from initial production to final tank. If I had access to my copy I could look it up for you.

As with the Tow Cables depends whether you want factory fresh or used condition. No doubt cleaning rods were swapped between tanks so you could have licence to improvise a little
I posted this link in the Tiger reference zone-

Hi ABE. Liking your build very much. For guard bolts I supplied Mr. Bix for his Strumtiger build with 1mm bolts. I think they look pretty good. Have a look at his build. Regards John.

John, they look great.

The Tiger 1 bolts are more like 2mm dia ( think an M1 hex bolt). I did email prime miniatures to buy a pack if 1 M0.8, 1 x M1.0 and 1 x M1.2 to see which looked right but got no reply :D

I might be interested if you can do these sizes. Would need 32 off in total

Use the Aber Photo etch Nuts and bolts set (R40). You can produce a lot of 1.5mm Hex heads. It takes a couple of tries to get it right. Use low melt solder(183c) to hold them together. No problems. after a few it's easy.

With that kit you make 187 1.5mm hex head nuts or bolts. You will need a 0.8mm drill and some more 0.8mm brass rod

Sorry, but for me, life is too short to be building Aber bolts :D

I am brass pinning and glueing the skirts on. I have plastic bolt heads of different sizes now to cover the brass pins. I will pick the best size that reflects the real bolts on the Tiger. I decided i could not justify spending over £40 inc postage on the prime miniature hex bolts and nuts.

The days of building Aber 1/35 working tool clamps for a Panther are long gone. The eyes are not there and the hands are more shaky :

Pics maybe at weekend.

Have fun out there folks

By Lifes too short i mean that at my elderly age I need to finish this before i croak (as mentioned previously earlier)

My Aber skills are poor and my soldering worse, so despite having the Aber sets from years ago, i am tending to use them as templates for scrath building.

Last weekend was a bust but hope to achieve something photo worthy over the weekend.
