You can't ask Mike for help with anything more technical than spellcheck. And besides, I swore off Dean's Connectors as soon as I saw them - a comment about wiring them incorrectly causing the tank to risk catching fire was all I needed to stay with the semi-good Tamiya hookups!

Naw, just my favorite tank since the 70's. When I joined the forum it seemed that the Tiger I was the dominant choice. I did 5 M4 variants before moving on to the Pershing. General Patton - no, Sergeant Sassgrunt - yes!John Glover wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 12:30 am American armor every where. You must get a discount on Shermans. Re: M10 Duck bill
I'm sure they can be wired wrong but the Tamiyas can be too. These are cheap, solid and have great contacts. No instruction included but there is a + near one of the horizontal blades. I put the female socket on the battery side of power flow, not sure that is correct but it made sense not to have exposed blades from the battery.
So you've figured out extension cords finally? I know the VCR is beyond your abilities.

Ecam,
You may already have one tucked away but if not, you need the M36B1 ( the M4 A3 Hull with the 90 MM Gun \open top turret ). Mato put these out as well. I bought an unfinished one from Jackalope back in the day and it is now Crazy Joes Command. ;0)

Painless

Re: M10 Duck bill
Yep, that is a consideration but only 187 of those were built when they ran out of M10A1 hulls to fill the contract.
A quote from you a while back: Wed Mar 02, 2016 11:58 am
"Good morning,
There are so many variants. You will be busy for years to come. ;o) This is not a bad thing at all. ( I'm still awaiting Mato's M10 in metal )"
There are still many on the list (only have 13 built so far).

Re: M10 Duck bill
Just for the non Sherman people out there. The VC Firefly was modified/up gunned using the the Chrysler built/powered M4A4 (A-57 30 cylinder power plant) that the US Army refused to use. It ended up in the lend lease program (God bless the Brits and their great sense of humor). Because of the size of the engine pack (5 six cylinder truck engines and cooling system) the hull had to be lengthened and the middle and rear bogies were spaced farther apart.

When I think of the fun I had with two late '30s vintage four-cylinder farm tractors, the thought of thirty cylinders horrifies me.

Re: M10 Duck bill
A firefly is still a Sherman and speaking of so many to build and so many built. I feel that pain. I have 7 built 3 under construction and many more to do. But I had a break from Sherman’s to get my crusader running. No im taking a break from building all together while I go through in finnished projects to see what I want to do with it
It’s your tank it’s what you make it
