Heng Long 6v CNC Metal smoker

Post by Redballrunner73 »

Hi Folks has anyone tried the heng long metal cnc smoker yet or had any issues? Have just installed mine into my HL Challenger 2 TK 7.0 but it seemed to get hot hell of a quick? (too hot to touch!) am going on the assumption that the TK 7.0 smoker coil output is at 5.8-6 volts as per the TK 6.0S board, I know the TK 6.0 was 7.4 volt output to coil but then was dropped to 6v with the 6.0s version but now not sure with the 7.0 ??? Any advice would be much appreciated as I don't fancy a mini Chernobyl incident and smoker melts out through bottom of my tank :O :haha:

So I used this one for a gun smoke mod for my HL Abrams. It was plugged into a HL gun smoke board, which was in turn plugged into an Elmod board. I did this a few months ago, and I have not completed the project, but I did get it running.

From what I remember, my Elmod MFU was plugged into a 3s 12v LiPo and when I ran it that shit got hot as hell, like I couldn’t touch it. I ended up putting an adjustable BEC on the power connection between the MFU and the gun smoke
board, and I think I had to set it to either 5V or 6V (7.4v was still too hot). It was still hot, but not so hot that I was worried about it melting something.

So maybe get a voltage tester thingy and see what the TK is putting out to the smoke port, and if it’s too high, put a BEC between the MFU and the smoker and see if that helps, preferably an adjustable BEC so you have some choices.

:) Hello, if it heats up abnormally? or voltage too high? either fan (or pump) not enough air flow? maybe both at the same time too, I strongly recommend investing in a multimeter? If this is not already done, it is the essential tool for our passion. But as indicated above? Personally I would say that 5 volts should be enough
Mr.Professor, it seems that your link is not working? 8O

"Mr.Professor, it seems that your link is not working." Indeed, it was not working. The link should work now. Oh, well, it was just for fun and memories.

Thanks folks yes think I have my big multimeter somewhere from my old biking days (ahh the memories :D...ooh the scrapes!! :haha: ) will deffo get testing the outputs just to be sure  . one would presume HL left the voltage at 6volts going on from the TK 6.0s but
