Having just joined the group & looking forward to posting photos in the forums, I was dismayed to see that Photobucket now only has a 7-day free trial, and even that won't let you access the BB / IMG code necessary to post images here; you have to have a 'Hosting' account. So I found an alternative that is free & does work in posts here:
https://imgbb.com/
Once you've uploaded your photo, select it and choose "BBCode full" under "Embed codes", then just copy & paste... no watermark or anything!

I use Imgur. Works well, good interface to grab links to put directly into your forum post, and the app lets me deposit pics directly from my phone after taking them. www.imgur.com

Re: Alternative to Photobucket
Another alternative is Tapatalk, been using it for a good few years now and very happy with it, I believe there is a free version available but it has limitations as in only being able to post a couple of pictures at a time but I opted to pay 77p a month which unlocks more options including posting multiple pics at a time

Re: Alternative to Photobucket
I use imgur, it's free and there is no limitation on number of posts or images. It is easy to use and I haven't had any problems. I used to use photobucket many years ago, but they introduced fee paying at which point I ditched them.

Re: Alternative to Photobucket
It's not really necessary to use a hosting service at all, but if you want to that's ok. My samsung phone posts direct to the forum, and on my computer I just resize anything over 3mb using a program like Paint.
After the great Photobucket scam Alwyn mentions, I've ditched all hosting services. Never seen the point with current sites.

Re: Alternative to Photobucket
I have always used direct upload from my PC, downsizing files using the least expensive version of PhotoShop (I used to call it "PhotoShop Lame Edition). I also monthly upload huge image files for a magazine article. I see, Mike, that you got your Android phone to downsize images. I'd like to do the same on the iPhone: does anyone know how?

Re: Alternative to Photobucket
There's an app called "Compress photos and pictures" on the Mac App Store that is a free download to compress photos on iPhone 13 and up. Looks nice to use and let's you save your original file and the downsized version. Plus bulk compressing so you can choose the photos you want and compress in one fell swoop.
