Re: VW Type 87/ KdF Wagen/ Kommandeurwagen build
UPDATE. As is often the case life gets in the way sometimes, and this has slowed down progress on my build. I have continued to search out various part options, and have various bits and bobs on their way.
Once these things land or are added to the build, I will of course up date you all. Ok so far, I've managed to take the car apart and remove the wheels! I stripped down the body shell and have begun sanding down the surface, it will need some more filler I think...just like a real Beetle
A big shout out to Lee (model builder4 on here) and Will and Catherine at WCP RC models for all their help so far with wheels and general RC advice! Thank you, also I can see other there have been some other interesting solutions while I've been away.
Ok so here is progress so far

For the wheels and tires, contact Lukas at Fertigungswerk 16 in Austria.
Just Google that and you get to his website.
He makes everything for your Beetle.
Grtz, Rob.
Damn, I missed page 2 of this thread, and noticed Raul already mentioned Fertigingswerk.'
My mistake...

Thank you to everyone who mentioned that I contact "Fertigungswerk 16" in Austria, they certainly do have some nice items, sadly been in communication with Lukas there for over a week, But he for some reason won't send me an invoice for the items I'd like, mainly in this case the headlight covers, I have no idea why, we are just going around in circles, so it looks like I am going to be making them from green stuff after all.Rob59 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:57 pm For the wheels and tires, contact Lukas at Fertigungswerk 16 in Austria.

Latest update, managed to position a working Notek lamp to the wing/fender. I haven't wired it up yet. This is made for the 1/16 Panzer 3 but fits perfectly.
Also huge thank you to Will and Catherine at WCP RC models for their brilliant 3d printed wheels and Tyres here they are fitted!
The axles don't really lend themselves easily to swap out of wheels, it takes some effort but can be done.
going to prep body work and prime it next I think.

Re: VW Type 87/ KdF Wagen/ Kommandeurwagen build
Lovely job,
I stripped mine down, I actually bought 2 VWs from Banggood,
This first one I have taken the interior apart including removing the steering wheel by undoing the retaining screw at its base then Googled Early VW Beetles and found that whoever designed the model did their research as the Facia was exactly correct for an early split rear screen variant including the twin instrument dials in the centre of the panel whereas all later Beetles had a single dial behind the steering wheel,
I also discovered that the steering wheel and column were all painted white,
TIP----The steering wheel and column are quite flimsy so reducing the bottom 3mm with glass paper then screwing it in to place saves breaking anything,
I will watch your build with interest.

Looks good. Nice work so far. Glad we were able to help with wheels and tyres. Will see about those other bits this weekend and in resin.
I have one of these to build for Cat, so I am watching closely.
