Martin,great kubelwagen.As we discussed I want to do a grey version and while researching I found a picture of 12 parked together in a field all grey,the book is Panzer Grenadier Division Grossdeutschland / squadron signal publication.I will attempt to scan and post the picture tomorrow,It seems odd that more did not survive,considering how plentiful they were.Blake

Did you use Tamiya paints or some other brand? What did you use to seal the paint and weathering colors? I am changing from testors masterclass enamels,to tamiya acrylic paints which is costing a good bit since I have alot of paint,but the Tamiya paints are less expensive in the long run for airbrush.Blake

in reply to saxondogs question about paint. i used mainly tamiya acrylics on this. some restrained chipping and dust applied using tamiya BUFF via an airbrush heavily diluted to build it up slowly. i then dipped a cotton bud in cellulose thinners and ,VERY carefully after about 24hrs drying time, gently lifted some dust along raised panels and mud guards to simulate the vehicle being brushed against. A wash of oil burnt sienna/ umber and some lamp black was used before and ,less generously after dusting. I used this format on my Panzer II also in this forum. I think it works particulary well on early war stuff in varying shades of grey. The panzer grey was Tamiya too but lightened and highlighted with different oversprays / mixtures to get subtle colour changes in much the same way as Oz has described elsewhere on this forum prior to weathering. One final touch was ground up HB pencil lead rubbed onto various small details to give a metallic sheen,including the drivers helmet, this part is very restrained and subtle. but the effect is satisfying. hope this helps. feel free to PM . Martin,I have been unable to get a clear scan of the picture,and one question I have put froward to mark about his Kubelwagen's was the interior color,it seems to be the same as base color.If you have any information on this detail please advise,thanks Blake

hi m8.. to be honest on my one it was all done in panzer gray inside and out. then weathered heavily inside and out. i tried to simulate the amount of dust it may have accumulated trekking across russia in the summer of Barbarossa. Consequently much of the grey is subdued. inside was equally dusty using pretty much the same technique as the exterior. i have seen pics of kubels in North Africa with grey interiors and desert yellow exteriors. an interesting contrast,the exterior would lend itself to some gr8 weathering in these circs. i hope this helps. martin
