Hi all, I’m new to the idea of actually owning an RC tank, I don’t have one yet. The only ones I knew about where the Tamiya tanks and their pricing put them pretty far out of reach, one of those maybe one day items where you are pretty sure one day isn’t actually going to happen. But then I stumbled on an article in big squid, the author was talking about Heng long tanks and all of a sudden someday seems a lot closer!
I’m thinking either the Heng Long Sherman or the Coolbank Stuart as my first tank. I’m new to tanks but not new to RC, I’ve got a fair few RC cars , but I’m going to be a complete newb when it comes to tanks. I’m looking forward to having one and detailing it and tinkering.

He is an official Taigen/Torro dealer But he will happily sell you a Heng Long or Tongde or just about any tank and he wil not rip you off.
Dave is very helpful talk to him you won't be sorry,
Nothing wrong with the Sherman or the Stuart except for a newbie you might like to try something bigger,
Any post WW2 or the bigger WW2 tanks will allow for the fingers of a beginner to wander around the interior without pulling out wires and smoker tubes by accident.
You will have questions and we have answers so go right ahead and if you know stuff don't keep it to yourself tell us

Oh hey yeah that would help. I’m a transplanted Yank living in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. If anyone on here is from the neighborhood I live opposite Jupps Fish and Chips.
Thanks for the steer on where to buy. I’m still figuring out where I’m going to land on the first tank. Size is a concern since I don’t drive (in the UK) so it has to be able to fit in a backpack for transport. I have an affinity with the Stuart since my older brother and I had a model tank building contest way back when and that was the first time I beat him! It was a tiny thing, I think it was a 72nd or maybe smaller, but it looked cool.
I have to admit the motor/esc whine I heard on the review vids is annoying (my crawlers run HW 1080s cause I hate that whine so much) so I’m leaning towards the Sherman at the moment.

Welcome to the rabbit hole... it runs deep. One upvote for getting the Heng Long Sherman as your first tank. It's a great runner, lots of ways to change it up with detail parts and a joy to drive. And it's actually quite spacious on the inside with the tall hull...

Hello from Wisconsin. If a backpack is a must, then the Coolbank M5A1 may have to be your choice simply because of size limitations. I think RC tanks may be more vulnerable to transport damage than RC cars, for the latter are made to bash around; whereas, the former can be run and can even handle the rough (as many videos and RCTW members attest). But they also have small parts that can be damaged in roll-overs. Now I have a different solution. I simply use my living room floor. After all, who needs furniture?
