Mr. Bix what colour will you be painting it? The concreted ones seem to be just a dunkelgelb which is one of the reasons I looked into doing it on my Tamiya build because at the time I wasn't really confident at all in my painting. But the concreting part seemed to be harder than me trying to do a tri colour and after following your build I don't think I could have pulled it off like you have

Thanks for the vote of confidence Mr Mechaniker, I reckon if you give it a go-you can do it too, just like I did.
The concreted ones would definitely be concrete over a Tri-colour , with at least a Dunkelgelb over coat over the concrete, but the majority of the units that were associated with these machines had very usually accepted patterns and practices.
The one Im looking to pull off was one of only two that were allegedly present in the Arnhem (Bridge Too Far) battles according to that units records, and because of that units plausible and highly likely usual way of camouflaging their vehicles, and the theatre they were working in, a yellow base with at least a green and probably Rot Braun mix was used & that what I will try to do.
Not sure what that actual pattern will specifically be at this point though.

Yes I just looked up some plates of the concreted ones and as you say they do seem to have light green and brown patterns over the dunkelgelb. Looking forward to seeing how you do it. They are such cool looking vehicles. Not sure if you have read the book Panzer Gunner but the author was a Canadian who ended up the war being a gunner in one of these. He had grown up as a kid in the city that our club field is located just north of. Interesting insights. Avoiding barrel stabbing was an even bigger concern for the crews than our rc versions obviously. A lot of them were destroyed by the crews after it happened as the gun was rendered useless

Finally got the wings on and primed. Also been getting the tool positions sorted.
Using a mix of P.E. sprue and actual P.E. clamp handles, ive set it up so I can add the tools after its finish-painted & simply touch up the clamp caps before seal and weathering.
The jack and barrel cleaning rods will be last.
Its a busy little bugger thats for sure.

Its Dunklegelb Eve here!
Been topping up and shading the base colour ready for tomorrow.
Bit of XF-88 Dark Yellow 2, bit of XF-57 Buff, dash of XF-2 flat white..............and a wet farts worth of AK714 coz thats all that was left!

The base colour shade is Primo....Im very happy with it.
Nice and light, no green hue, and it went patchy as intended by putting it on with a small swirling motion.
Helped a bit by the outside temp being perfect for instant drying, the surface went chalky-matt and is almost too nice to put a camo over.!
It doesnt show in the pics but its a bit thinner and lighter over the concrete patches also as intended.
I will paint the broken edges of the concrete a very light grey/grey- white once its either camo'd or not.

That is a great shade of dunkelgelb. I only acheived that once and then sort of ruined it with a wash. It really makes the ragged edges of the concrete look so realistic
