Hi, from Rotterdam

Post by Mindstorm »

Hi, i’m new here and new to RC Tanks, but in the past ive painted and modelled DnD mini’s and loved model tanks as a kid.

Just bought my first two tanks:
Henglong Panther G 7.0 with barrel recoil, 360 turret rotation and all metal drive parts.
I havent received it yet, but should be this week or the next (bought it through Aliexpress, the official Heng-Long store)

Henglong Sherman M4A3 which im planning on moddig it a bit, i got the MOTO T74 metal tracks with duckbills (with metal idler and sprocket) and wanted the horizontal mudguards as seen on every E8 (found a few pictures of real ww2 shermans which have the old suspension and mudguards)
As i couldnt find the separate mudguards i ordered the upperhull part of a Tamiya M4A3, and will see how i can make that work.

Still waiting on both tanks, but found some interesting mods here on this forum, so i figured if any questions may arise, this would be a good place to ask them.

Thx for reading

Welkom!! Excellent choice on your first tanks, especially the Sherman. HL tanks are made from ABS, and ABS sheet and other profiles like L-corners and strips are available too to scratchbuilt things like fenders and mudguards. Good practice for all the other modding you will inevitably be doing to your tanks.

Under construction; Sherman Firefly IC - M3 Grant - Sherman BARV
... No, I do not have a problem....

Welcome aboard Mindstorm! The Tamiya upper to HL lower is straight forward but does require some trimming of the top of the rear on the HL lower. The second factor is how to make them stay together. The HL is held together with six screws. The Tamiya is a snap down (spread the sides to lift the upper). Also the Tamiya upper is an M4 (radial engine) the HL a M4A3 (Ford V8 powered). It may be simpler to build your own fenders or rob the Tammy hull of it's fenders (I did that and saved/used the hull for an M32).
