HAYA Chieftain Mk3 - SOLD OUT
HAYA Chieftain Mk3 - SOLD OUT
I found out today that the entire production of the HAYA Chieftain Mk3 has SOLD-OUT completely.
The existing Chieftain moulds will be "cleaned-up" and it is thought that they could then be used to produce another batch of Chieftains that could become available to buy around August next year onwards.
A mouth watering thought is that they could be Chieftain Mk 5 variants next time...............

Re: HAYA Chieftain Mk3 - SOLD OUT
I wonder how many were made in the production run? Was this the original run of the tank that is now sold out? Mine was part of the original pre-order and arrived Nov 2019.

I was hoping if they can do a Challenger 1 or Challenger 2.
Re: HAYA Chieftain Mk3 - SOLD OUT
I don't know about the commercial viability of making another Challenger 2 as Heng Long have already sold a lot of them (and HAYA have sold lots of them in the UK too), but I have heard that a Challenger 1 could be a future possibility - and that would be superb if HAYA should make one.ongbenghui wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 7:13 am I was hoping if they can do a Challenger 1 or Challenger 2.

LOL... I am biased against the HL design. I just don't like the battery compartment open on the bottom for HL. I kind of like the nice tub hull design that Haya has on their tanks.zooma wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 12:33 pmI don't know about the commercial viability of making another Challenger 2 as Heng Long have already sold a lot of them (and HAYA have sold lots of them in the UK too), but I have heard that a Challenger 1 could be a future possibility - and that would be superb if HAYA should make one.ongbenghui wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 7:13 am I was hoping if they can do a Challenger 1 or Challenger 2.

I really dislike the battery box access under the hull too!ongbenghui wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 2:25 pmLOL... I am biased against the HL design. Moving the battery into the turret of my HL tanks is my favourite solution to give an easy access alternative.
I am current working with this idea on my HL Leopard using magnets to give a quick release turret top.
Could this idea could help to make the HL tanks a little more acceptable to you.............?

Re: HAYA Chieftain Mk3 - SOLD OUT
i think leopard is one of the exceptional one with a large turret.
However, despite the size of the turret, I don't see any chance of mounting a full length rc car pack in the turret.
Possibly a "shorty" pack.
I am not very fond of putting too much stuff on the turret that cause two things, whether if it is noticeable.
1) The CG now goes much higher.
2) the turret is now weighted down by the heavy battery.
And not forgetting about the wiring depending on where did you place the controller board.
Battery in turret?
Hi onebenghul,
I use a 2200mah LiPo battery as my choice for a lot of my tanks and they also fit well inside the turret of my HL Leopard 2A6 and will probably fit inside most Modern Tank turrets.
These batteries are not so heavy and help with the concern about having a high CG.
It was first mentioned on here......but it got moved to the Modern Build thread (before I found out how to add pictures). I have not added to this thread since it was moved but I can add a couple of pictures to show my progress to date if it would help?
I did start a thread on Tamiya v Heng Long Leopard 2A6 that had a lot of useful information and comparisons, but this seems to have disappeared as I can't find it . Have you seen it anywhere?
This thread mentions the "battery in turret" as it is also used on the Tamiya 2A6.
