Indeed, such reflectors still abound, now an integral function of the lens covers on taillights and side lights. I am surprised to see one on a WWII tank, especially given the clever way the convoy light functioned both to make a vehicle visible to followers and help judge following distance. However, I suppose a reflector is a useful caution when the convoy light is off and assuming that the Allies are not around behind the tank.

Pretty sure almost all German panzers had a reflector at the bottom left of the rear plate. I understand why a lot of modellers don't bother with it as I'm sure it was quickly covered with dirt. I like putting them on. Aber have some nice ones in their detail kits for the Panther,Tiger,KT etc. I just put a round piece of brass from one of their kits and a dab of Tamiya Clear Red makes it almost look like it's lit up hence having to dial it down a bit with weatheringHerr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 11:01 pm Indeed, such reflectors still abound, now an integral function of the lens covers on taillights and side lights. I think running into a brick wall would be preferable to hitting the rear of one of these beasts. At least the brick wall might have some giveHERMAN BIX wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 2:47 am Looks like the back of a push bike !

I almost ran out of primer on this beast. Doing a crappy version of the foliage loops was tedious.

Here’s my convoy light found on the first few Tigers.

I have an Aber photo etch later style convoy light already rolled. Not sure if I'm using it on the JT though. I will definitely be improving my jack block. It's been a real pain to paint in place as the rear plate was so weak and cracked I did not want to remove it. Nice thing when I finally red oxide over my work all the mistakes become glaring and can be cleaned up before starting the base coats. I know it goes against the very slow and steady pace of the group builds but i want this on the field battling by the end of the month

Trust me there is no rule about how fast you may finish the group build. We had a few fast ones and some that are still on the table getting work. We even had a few that ended up with multiple tanks completed on the last group build and finished by the June 6th deadline! Build at your pace but enjoy what you are doing.Panzermechaniker wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 2:02 am I know it goes against the very slow and steady pace of the group builds but i want this on the field battling by the end of the monthWinter is coming fast

Laid down the base green on the upper hull. Certainly the JT looks more imposing size wise in a dark colour than the original Torro yellow. Will let the green cure for a couple of days and then do a 2000 wet sand followed by a flat clear varnish. Then will align the red brown with the lower hull and then lay down the Nato brown patches on the upper hull.

That is a true beast! I’m looking forward to the finished project. The exhaust definitely looks very well modeled.
