Gearbox

Post by velthal »

Hi everyone. What is the best gearbox to buy for tiger1 (taigen hull)? I'm currently using taigen 3:1 gearboxes.

I see Heng long has released a bunch of different ones. I want the tank to go slow and smoothly.

I use a Heng Wrong dual current gearbox from Forgebear in my old ugly Tiger 1. Very smooth and quiet. I also put one in my Panzer lll project. They are a bit heavy though.

The Dual Current gearbox is different from the traditional ones as it uses a 550 motor as the drive portion and like 380/400 size motor for the turning. They end up delivering the power a lot smoother so it's not just down to the gear ratio. What really matters is the control board at this point. The Heng Long 6.x and 7.x boards provide much better low end control than the Taigen/Torro boards regardless of what gearbox is in there. The HL units also have a 70 percent power mode that lowers the top end speed.

Give that you are upgrading a Tiger I, velthal, I would recommend the HengLong 7.0 or 7.1 board and the dual current gearbox. While Taigen still has good sound overall, HengLong has passable sound for a Maybach engine (as in the Tiger I), much better control, and is more adaptable to other features such as, e.g. smoking gun, etc.

Yesterday I disassembled the low hull, I wanted to tighten the torsions. Alas, taigen has no fine-tuning.
Not sure if the result is authentic, but the 8kg makes a difference, all the torsions look tired.

maybe someone knows how to adjust taigen's torsions?

btw i ordered hl dual gearbox metal\metal. very interesting :)
hope it slow like dklm's slow version.

it seems I can change 550 to brushless :))

btw, is it easy to change? I have brushless 540 and brushed 80t

:) Good morning,
I am not convinced that there is an adjustment? However, I advise resting the tank on a wooden support (under the chassis) outside the tracks, in order to relieve the suspension, when not in use
for the Brushless motor, not sure if the board is designed for it? personal opinion :D

hi :)
as I understand, if you use tk7.1, there is an option to connect external esc.
But again, which is better tk60 clark or tk7.1 hl ?
I don't like that hl only has its own remote.
