Been a good weekend. Plenty of time to spend on the king tiger. Dark yellow painting finished and added a bit of shading. Added some kill rings to the barrel ( because I like the look of them 😂). Weathered the tracks 2.5 hours in white vinegar. At the moment I don’t have a compressor and only a cheap airbrush so I don’t think I am going to attempt a camo pattern I don5 think that I’ll get the results that I want. Will do a bit more weathering, a wash some chipping etc and then add some markings. Probably using some of rads stencils. I need to finish the electronics but waiting for one of the Clarke board programming kits to allow me to tinker with the settings. Next job I think will be to replace the heng long speaker for something better. Pretty pleased with how this is turning out so far

I can thoroughly recommend Rad’s stencils.

You could stay with the all Dunkelgelb look and get Rad's stencils to keep. Then go for a compressor, tools, etc., camouflage, Rad's stencils and weathering. That was you get a tank out the factory door and later in the field. Hmm... maybe some transport tracks initially, too. Oooh! The money could flow!

You can apply the stencils using a dabbing method with a paint brush so you don't need an airbrush to use them. If you do that method, just don't have a lot of paint on the brush. Use a paper towel or something to unload the brush and build up the paint slowly. I didn't want to break out the airbrush so that was the method I used on my T34/76.

For stencils I use a Pentel Paint pen, They come in 3 sizes, Small medium and large, Unscrew the top and load it with (Acrylic) paint then paint the outline using the stencil and fill it in with a larger nib., Run the the pen body under the tap and it is ready for more.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Good Morning,
This is perfect timing since it's pretty much the paint scheme that I have in mind for my KTs. Close enough to show all the lovely details clearly. Great job! One question, were you going to clip the solid plastic tabs off that pass for the hatch handles and replace them with wire or plastic types from Tamiya, etc.? Following along,
regards,
Painless

About the hatch handles, on my 4 KT's I did cut the solid grips off and bent some electricity wires to look like the grips.
Drilled holes in the hatches, glued the grips in and your done!
Easy Peasy and makes quite a difference!
Here's a pic of one of mine, you can see the grips....

Pentel Paint Pen: nice idea! I learn when others ask questions. Thank you for bringing up the subject Percy! And thanks for the tips tankme, Painless, Rob, and jarndice.
