Yes, but I was lazy, and typing while tired and with a migraine.
They are publishers and in print, and they are clearly ignorant in the use of English. I love Osprey books,
but a Plural does not have an "S" on the end...... End of.

I was here to receive adulation and worship for my painting skills If not that, then to learn where I could improve.......any thoughts?

The binding on electrical wres in those days may well be universal....pretty sure I've seen an old bakalite telephone with that cable cover.

Yes indeed that is the type of thing I meant. Thank you finding an actual example. So, its official I'm guessing then, but this is probably how all electrical cables were during 30's and 40's. Hopefully this will be of use to some figure painters going forward.

I rewired a neighbors mom's home. The original 1940's build had a bunch of this cloth covered wire. The 70s and eighties remodels and expansions had the more current aluminum and later copper wires.


When I dove into the revamp I shut the power down on the whole shebang. That cloth covered wire was scary to this baby boomer kid. Ultimately no fire or death to the mods I performed. Red Neck country has their own set of rules...

Wow, that's a bit of a horror story, glad you were able to rewire the house, and in so doing probably saved the lives of everyone in that house!!!

I imagine that's quite collectable! That looks like quite an early phone with that wind up handle on the front. Isn't that used to buzz the exchange so you can ask them to put you through?
Have you any plans for it, or is it going into a museum? Imagine it would also make a good film prop.

I believe it was an old exchange phone that was thrown out. A friend of mine got two and gave me one. I was going to connect it up to an intercom with the house from the shed. But mobile phones came along and were easier lol.
When I was a child, my mum used to flick the power switch to the shed in the house to let my dad know he needed to come to the house for whatever reason.

I'm not sure what to do with it at the moment.

Yes....Mobiles...I still don't have one! I rigged up an intercom unit into a chair that I made back in 2002.....it was a replica of Captain Kirk's Command chair from the TV series.
the other end of the intercom was in the kitchen, so that I could order tea and biscuits to my office
Eventually the hydraulic spring in the chair gave way from all the extra weight (side pods) and I had to dump it.
I had planned to rebuild it and had a set of the chair lights. switches etc, but I never have. Its a big job and it takes up more space than I have now.

Sure. I really like the skin shading you've done on the cheeks, under the nose, and fingers, including the grime on his hands. Nice details like the olive drab on the binocular body, pewtar belt buckle and holster buckle.

The eyes seem a bit too "eyes-wide-open", maybe some greyish-white to tone them down, and a thin line of flesh to enlarge the eyelids and limit the whites showing?

The brown to represent the cloth wrapped wires is cool, but the wires are a bit out of scale for thickness, and detract a bit from your details on your fine figure. I'd be tempted to try a finer thread, or copper strand and drill holes where needed to anchor them in the earpieces and throat mics.
