[Desert]: Pzkw. IV F1

Post by Herr Dr. Professor »

Today I took out the first of two Taigen DAK PzKw. IV F1 to convert to Taigen V3 with sound, electronics I've had since V3 was quite new. When I took the PzKw. IV out, another modeler leaned over and said, "Great job on the weathering." Certainly I can improve the look of the tracks, tools and other accessories, but I do find the Taigen DAK pretty good. So I will start my part of the 2024/2025 Group Build to improve the two PzKw. IV F1 on low budget. If I can finish these simple things quickly enough, I may jump in with another build, likely a "support" vehicle or a "1945."

I'd always wanted to do a DAK PZIII or PZIV. My Tamiya PZIV is a J. I wish they had picked an earlier variant

I wish when Taigen made what I consider the definitive revised PZ4 Ausf G Turret they had made the Cupola removable which would have made it possible to make probably the best variant "The Ausf H",
Of course Tamiyas PZ 4 Ausf J is very accurate but the turret was always wanting and Taigen produced the right result including the bore sight and using Tamiyas Shurzen Turret armour which is an easy fit on it completes a late model Ausf G to perfection.
Anyways Doc I shall watch your efforts with interest
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

My favourite version of the workhorse IV with the "stump"! Should look great in the DAK colours.

I just tripped over this video. Thought I'd share. I like his work. He's not as extreme as others,

Yes, Mr Panzermeister36 shows simple but effective techniques and painting supported by sources. I also recommend his YT channel.
