I had some free time today, so finaly I managed to record a small video of the car in action:

phpBB [video]

And I realized the interior light is not visible when driving outside, so I just took this pic.

At this point I think I can call this toy ready and finished... Until I have more ideas, like always!

I totally agree, that's amazing.
I think that setup in one of my Kubelwagen would be amazing.

One thing that some people does not know is I keep updating, adding new functions and improving the existing ones in all my toys, and all those changes are reflected in my website entries. This beetle is no exception.

It is interesting to see how logically you set up the various transmitter controls for the lights and sound. Because I mourn the waning days of the "standard" transmission, :'( and as I was watching the previous video again, it occurred to me that a desirable feature would be some way to make the Käfer seem to be shifted through gears as it starts up, accelerates, and slows down.

I did it long time ago. Fun fact, that is why I installed those 4 red buttons at the rear of the radio. It involves a lot of radio wizzardy, but it works as follows:

One three position switch: It controls if you want to drive fowards, neutral or backwards.
The gas stick gives you gas the full travel. It means, full down is no gas, full up is full gas.
And with one of those red buttons I change the virtual gears. One click in one, gear up. One click in another, gear down.

I could add as many as I would like to, but I found 3 gears to be a nice equilibrium. This was just an experiment, it smaller cars not as funny as it might seem. I did a video showing this in youtube, but I am planning to re-record it again.

Since I have subscribed to your YouTube videos, I will go looking for the one with the gear shift sounds.

Hey, thanks for subscribing. Don't forget that you can subscribe and comment on my website, there is where I put most of my effort.

About the videos with the gears, jesus, I took a look at those videos and they are horrible. Foggy, messy and confusing. I did like 4 videos or so. Heck I noticed in one of them you can even see me, min 2:28 ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2aeNk88GE8 my 4 year old daughter was recording it for me. Time flyes.

In that video I was testing the gears function in a stock king tiger, horrible painted, before I turned it into this: https://radindustries.wordpress.com/201 ... ger-galle/

It was a proof for showing that my idea could be implemented on every toy, no matter how cheap is the speed controller, doing it just with the radio.

No worries, I will add to my to-do list to record a new video, with steady camera, and will explain what is seen on the screen. The gear shifting sounds can be played by the radio as well, I might add that.

This is another thing I changed in all my toys, the sounds like switching the lights are played now by the radio, because it has sense that I heard them, but not when the vehicle is away.
