"Build from the lower hull up...before moving on to the fun stuff." Yes, that is the way to go. Go get 'em, Bix!

Ok I will !!
Like that awful kid who wrecks toys, the donor model is ripped apart.
Suspension checked and spring retainers set in place to prevent the leaf springs from coming out of line.
Idler drop arms installed, old internals removed, all removable parts ejected from upper hull ready to slice up like a frog dissection in high school !!

Just in case Sassgrunt chimes in, I was only testing (quality control) his models...

Onwards he plunges..............into the abyss that is late-ish war German armour..........
The simple things in life, like removing the redundant turret traverse motor exhaust from the rear plate, figuring out where to cut the upper hull to accept the new Profeline upper, where Zimmerit needs to go in relation to the time & date of the version I end up with
At the end of the day,( and we get one every day so no need to make that special), its about THE CONCRETE !!
The concrete is my biggest trepidation about this build, got to get that right above all else and ensure the paint works around it.
What to use for it, how to make it stick, how to paint it, what to use for the exposed reinforcing......................that stuff!

With 10 years difference between us, it flat-out amazed me at how much damage a 5-year-old could do to my stash of completed models, once he figured out how to bypass the locked bedroom door. And then, (since we were a military family and relocating every three years or so), our parents promised me that when Dad eventually retired I would be able to finally build my HO train set layout that I'd always wanted to. So, I used my paper route money to buy engines, train cars, and track for someday doing that. I joined the military before the family retired, and by that time I had 6 engines and 54 cars carefully stored in a large box. It didn't take long after I'd left, of course, before Eric found the box. I understand that he and his younger brother used the track to build overlapping oval tracks that had several crossing points; to allow for a "demolition derby" event, (which none of the engines or cars survived). This callous destruction of my childhood fantasies is probably why I've built models ever since I've lived away from him. Not sure whether to thank him or continue to disinherit him because of it...

How did Ollie North put it?
I have no recollection of those events...
YOUR sister was the mastermind...
The lawyer is asking for photographic proof...
