Somehow, I don't think this "ocsillating multi tool" is the kind of beast I know as a "Sawzall."
Are there miniature ones?

Unlike the Sawzall the head vibrates and various blades are available. The one I use is Dremel's Multi-Max.

Hmmmmm, never thought of one of those for tank butche...modification. I used one to get out of a couple of close calls retrofitting some plumbing and they are very controllable.

I will be checking on the price. Is it tough enough to cut brass? My father started out after WWII as a "tinner" (i.e. sheet metal) and the ability to use a tin snips sure did not rub off on me ('course, maybe that is because I am a superior left-handed person).

I was referring one like the multi-max. A sawzall is a sawzall...If I meant sawzall I would've said sawzall...sheesh...lol

Yes, there are blades available to cut many things (even nails in wood). However I don't use the Multi-Max as much as you may think. I use razor saws, hack saws, other hand tools or head out to the shop and use the BIG saws.

I checked around, Eric. When I saw advertisements for the Dremel Multi-Max, I remembered decades ago using one with a friend. We butchered whatever project it was. While's it's no Milwaukee Sawzall or the like, the Dremel Multi-Max is a bit on the large size for 1/16 plastic.

When you see two posts in a row from ol' Herr Doc., you know that he can no longer remember what he did just 20 seconds ago.

Agreed, in my 16th work it gets more use as a handy sized sander. Those triangle sanding pads are really handy at times.Herr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 3:03 pm I checked around, Eric.
