Painless, I am happy to learn of a good report from the medical doc, and it's great to have your update and--bonus!--photos of the Königstiger (Bengal Tiger) cub. I had to give up 1/35 scale because the kits take just as long as 1/16 but require good eyesight. :problem: That's a thing of the past.

I am so with you Doc! I still build the 35th reference kits, but no paint or details. Once I got used to the 16th scale, I just can't go back...

Good Morning!
Thanks you guys for the Well Wishes! I'm pulling the HL King Tiger off of the Cabinet today so I can take it apart and see what is worth keeping in it. Bearing in mind that I'm not supposed to go crazy on it with new parts, I know it will require a new lower and metal roadwheels to match the metal tracks on it at least. It's one of the 1st HL King Tigers to come out and the plastic lower probably got warped by the weight of the tracks despite being on a wooden support all these years. The tank has parts on it from Phil Plueger so I want to reuse as much of it as possible for sentimental reasons. Tracks are still like new minus the usual chevron wear so that's cool. So away we go.

Oh yes, the parts from Phil must remain!

That is a great news that you're able to return to the modelling bench. King Tigers are patient--mostly from waiting for fuel-- they''ll wait 'til you get to them.

Good Afternoon!
Cleaned up the Counter and organized the paints and glues I had used on the Research KT. Brought the Heng Long version down and cleaned a few years worth of dust off of it with a soft bristle brush. I quit running the tank back then because one of the road wheel mounts broke either a spring or a suspension arm. I always meant to get back to it with a better lower hull made for metal tracks and running gear. That is easy enough to do nowadays thanks to Taigen and Torro. Next up, powering it up to see what still works.
regards,
Painless

Oooooh you got me excited Mr Wolf!

1 question where did you get the cap for the headlight? I'm not having much luck finding them or making them with pen caps as others suggested.

Mr. Chef,
The headlight cover came from a Tamiya sprue for King Tigers. Tamiya sprues are the best when you need non specific parts for your Builds.

"The headlight cover came from a Tamiya sprue for King Tigers." Yeesh! I need about three dozen. :problem:

I just learned another little trick: how to make headlight or spotlight lenses without the covers:

1) go to a craft store or online and find various sizes of "rolling eyes" for dolls. This is the hard part. You want the old-fashioned doll eyes that are black circles that move around inside clear plastic "lenses"
2) place a rolling eye on a file or sandpaper and sand your fingers off until the back of the "eye" is sanded off and dark part of the "eye" comes out.
3) keep sanding until the remaining clear "lens" is the right size to fit the light you want to make.

It's not perfect, but it worked for my Pershing's spotlight.

Good morning, Herr Doc!
How about negating some of the sanding on the eyes by place them in a padded vise and using a razor saw for plastic to cut them in half. Something to save your fingers and patience.
