In the meanwhile I painted a second crew member:

Rob 59: The cap on the crewman leaning out the side hatch really caught my eye. I have books on German WWII tankers' uniforms, etc., and I have not seen a cap like that. So I am curious. Is is a winter version of the cap?

Re: Painting German Camo Uniforms
I think it is very simple….
He is just wearing a normal ‚Schiffgen‘ cap, and for the cold he just wrapped something like a buff around his head, which covers the cap partially.

That was my guess, too, but I had never seen the wrapped cap/head before.

And some more crewmen:
The Driver
The Radio operator
And a Panzer Grenadier
upload picture
6 more figures to go on this Panzer IV:
The loader and 5 more Panzer Grenadiere.
To be continued.

I am sure, he is wearing 2 different things:Herr Dr. Professor wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 4:42 pm That was my guess, too, but I had never seen the wrapped cap/head before.
1. the usual Schiffgen (the black cap)
2. a seperate buff to protect his ears against the cold.
So no cap/head/buff as one piece!

It looks as if the co-driver/gunner was burned by a kiss on the cheek from some French woman. The figures add so much interest and fun to any AFV.
