I agree with Sax, oven cleaner has never let me down either.
Is it possible that the tank has a coat of non-acrylic matt varnish ??????

If its tamiya arcrilic paint windscreen cleaner will remove it if its oil based try white spirit.

i was talking to a mate who builds cars he told me he uses oxi clean to remove the tamiya spray paint, apparently it works very well.................oz
