What is a Torro WSN 1:16 play tank?

Post by MrChef »

Just pokin round the net and saw this=

https://www.ebay.com/itm/285327844855?_ ... %3A4429486

What the heck is it? I know the brief history of WSN and I actually think I've seen someone post one of these on a Facebook group but I'm completely confused and don't know what it's story is. It's not listed on Torro sites like Motion RC or Taigen tanks either and IIRC Taigen was affiliated with WSN awhile ago.

So any ideas?

Hello,

even if not everyone wants to hear it, Torro is not a producer. !!!

The Torro company merely sells all possible and impossible models and parts and accessories

My first tanks! A Tiger and a T34! All-plastic, but remarkably, still running!

Would never advice anybody to get this, but if you lay your hands on it for cheap, it's nice!
1:16 was my scale. Until 'Konan' came into my life... an Armortek 1:6 Tiger 1!
... Now followed by a Panther G, 'Gunther'!

I'm a happy man. 8)

I think (and I will probably be wrong, as I usually am) WSN were rc Hobby Boss kits. The hull of the HB Tiger I used in the Frankenstein, Tamiya, Heng Long, HB, Tiegan lash up shows its motorised origins.

From what I understood, Trumpeter was the model company behind the WSN RC tanks. They are Trumpeter kits that are motorized.

A couple of the Torro tanks, especially the Sherman, look the same as the Taigen models. We need a bit less copy catting and a nice metal edition M4A3E8 done with HVSS. Cant seem to get that from anyone, with the one that is done being of poor quality sadly.
Its a mother beautiful tank! Stop with the negative waves man.

Torro and Taigen are the same tanks marketed under different names as far as I know. I don't think either actually makes them.

Both are manufactured by Peter Kuang, founder /owner of KY Model (Haifeng Model), who got Graupner & others into the ARTR ship-model biz. WSN is Trumpeter's brand. These photos are from HEC last year in Beijing. Will see Peter & his new Sd.KfZ. 251 when I attend the show next month.

Thanks for the info. I knew that WSN was a subdivision of Trumpeter. WSN does the RC versions of stuff like the MRAPs, M16 Half-track, and I will assume the upcoming 251. Of course they also did the first RC T34/85 and a Tiger I.

I'm not sure who makes the Swimwagon or the GPA for Torro.
