T34 v Tiger PC Game

Any tank related games you want to share with us? Maybe if you can play it online, you could organise an online battle!

Rob, I haven't even seen a T34 yet. I'm so green it's anti-tank that's doing me in. But I'll get there.

So are you guys recommending this game, and is it still available?  I thought I read somewhere a few months back that the company went under and there was no support [and many problems with the game].  I'd love a good tank only game instead of a game that only has a couple tank missions in it.

Lighthouse Productions went into administration, so if you want a copy of the game you will have to search. They often come up on Amazon and Ebay but try to avoid the downloaded version as that is known to cause problems.

There are virtually no bugs in this game. What happened was that numerous kids bought the game, and kids being kids expect a PC game to be 100% plug and play, just like a Playstation.

The only problems that I aware of stem from PC's not being configured properly, installing the correct files that were not included with windows etc.

Yes, the game will crash very, very occasionally, but so do lots of other games.
Yes, the game will not run well in team mode on Gameranger. This is a known bug and is due to the design of the multiplayer code. It will not handle multiple servers very well in team mode.
Yes, in skirmish mode it functions perfectly, and it is perfectly feasible to play team games in that mode.

Take a look at www.HitEnter.co.uk/tvt and follow ALL of the advice. If you skip anythng you are likely to hit problems.

A lot of tank know-how went into the dynamics of this simulator, it is not just a point and shoot game, you really are in a tank, and you really do get to realise what tank warfare is all about. Constant 360 degree observatiion is paramount. Please also note that everyone plays in Expert mode online, so the enemy does not appear on the map, and all tank functions have to be manually controlled eg no automatic target detection.

Just to let people know that the T34 vs Tiger programmers have now decided to try and get the original game sorted out and upgraded, rather than do a complete rewrite using another engine.

The old PanzerSim forum shut down, but has now resurrected at

http://panzersim.forumotion.com/forum.htm

Which is where all of the info regarding game development can be found. If you have any questions, suggestions, or want to know what is going on then take a look over there. If any new patches or upgrades are released then this is where you will find them.

Cheers
