HL Pershing/Tiger1

Post by Nickjagman »

Hi everybody,
Im new to rc tanks, though ive been building high speed rc powerboats for afew yrs since having to retire from being an commercial and domestic sparky.
Got into the hobby by being given a non functionimg Pershing in 1/16th.That's now been converted to 2.4 and its crystal system put into a late base model Tiger 1.
Both now shoot and smoke even though the crystal system had burnt out the transistor tht ran the smoke unit
Extra stand alone board been built to now run the smoke and fan.
Basically that's the long and short of things at the moment, both ive converted to run on7.4 lipo's for more constant power supply.
Im based near Oldham,Greater Manchester, looking to find a local club or meet in the area. look forward to hearing from forum members.
Nick

Welcome from Ontario, Canada! You certainly know your electronics which is usually the stumbling block for new tank owners. These must be an interesting change in driving style to highspeed boats!

Welcome from another North American. You are in prime territory for RC tank goodies, and RCTW is the right place for suggestions, advice, harrassment... Egad! I wish I had your skills with the electronic innards! Join the fun!

It appears that the North Americans welcomed you first. I had better start on behalf of the British.
Welcome to the Club from Argyle and Bute. A font of all knowledge sharing, ridicule, advice, and ribbing. Small electric, below 240v confuses me, big electric, above 415v-33,000kv I’m fine with. Used to live up the road from Oakham in Derbyshire, regularly visited the Oakham Brewery when it was in the goods shed at the station.

Thanks folks for the welcomes, love electric, was a commercial/domestic sparky for 25yrs before i had to retire due to chronic arthritis. Tanks are a lot easier for me now, atleast i can use them indoors lol.
