Stay away from baking soda it will eat your paint that will peel off overtime.
That's what they used on the AT-AT filming miniatures for Empire Strikes back and the paint of the miniature and the paints (Floquil of that time, so super hard) felt off after some times where baking soda was applied to simulate snow while the other filming miniatures still have their beautiful paintjob after 47 years for the oldest !

Thank you for the links.
Today’s kitchen tip: I am not surprised that baking soda could eat paint, even Floquil. If stuff is burnt onto a pan, often boiling baking soda in water will knock the stuff loose.

Wish I would have known that. Too late now.
If paint comes off, I can weather it into rust.
I hope.

Wow, just learned this. I only heard that it yellows over time.MonsieurTox wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 11:49 am Stay away from baking soda it will eat your paint that will peel off overtime.

I have been searching for a good snow medium for awhile. The best one I found is unfortunately discontinued- ""Precision Ice and Snow. I can't find it anywhere.

Don't beat yourself up. It'll be ok. Think of it this way, if the paint comes off you can just repaint it in the spring.michaelwhittmann wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 5:52 pm Wish I would have known that. Too late now.![]()
