Returning tanker

Post by cmryanuk »

Hi all, I'm reintroducing myself after being out of the hobby for a few years. I joined the forum in 2016 after correcting, detailing and weathering a HL Tiger 1which I still have in a crate.

In 2015/16 I bought a Tamiya full option Tiger 1 from a fare which had been built but not painted, and set about stripping it apart to paint and add detail. I came unstuck after buying a brass photo-etched detailing set and realised I had neither the skill nor knowledge to work at such small scale. So I put it all in a crate in the shed and forgot about it for 7 years. After watching a lot of YouTube WW2 stuff which led me on to model building videos I decided to use the Christmas break to get back into it and I've been building micro hinges and parts and fitting them to the Tiger's Hull.

I'm following the Normandy Tiger mid production build based on an HL but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to match the superb work that tanks_for_the_memory has done. But it will be better than my HL.

Really enjoying seeing your projects.

Cheers, Chris

Well hello! When you were first here on RCTW, I was here in the U.S., but on a now defunct Australian list (which I miss, but Herman Bix is here). So I welcome seeing your work with fun things like photo etch. And, indeed, I do understand ones trepidation about lack of skill, the same being a constant companion of mine. But I blunder ahead.

Thank you all. I'm tempted to post a few pics of the work in progress just to give you all a good laugh. Is it appropriate to do so in this thread?

Perhaps start a build thread, or in show off, would be better.

I do believe Herr Prof, has been at the Oban Whisky tonight. He is also under estimating his skills.
