How to - reduce metal gearbox rattle .
How mamy folks love their steel gears , but don't  like the rattle and noise  
  most of that is caused by the play in the first large cog .-Shims can help -But  here is another simple fix .  I swopped the big pinion gear from some old plastic gear boxes that were gathering dust ;-
