Hi Roger Welcome to the Forum
Which of Heng Longs tanks and what scale?
Enjoy this place and do ask lots of questions.

Another yankee! Welcome! Yes, indeed, what did you get? How old are the boys? What kind of RC are you running already?

Welcome from Eastern Ontario! Fond memories of driving through New York state to Nyack, to pick up my Triumph GT6 from "The Sports Car Factory", way back in 2005. My son was copilot and 12 years old, so thought "Coxsackie" was the best town name ever, and "Fishkill" where we picked up the uhaul car transporter a close second.
Dang, another threesome tank purchase on here! Lucky!
Mike.

Hi all! My boys are 7 and 9 - I got the Abrams, Merkava, and Challenger 2.
We're in Westchester (Irvington). I don't suppose there are any meetups or clubs in the area?
I've been mostly into rc planes, generally 3d printed. Not a lot of places to fly though, the local parks have pretty strict rules.
I've also been tinkering a lot with brushless gimbal motors and open source controllers (mostly simplefoc) so I might at some point try to replace the gearboxes on a tank with a low-kv motor.

Good Dad. I remember when my Dad brought home the Radio shack Sherman a long time ago. Good times...rogercaplan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:14 pm Hi all! My boys are 7 and 9 - I got the Abrams, Merkava, and Challenger 2.
I know where you are. I worked in Greenburgh for 10 years and grew up at my grandparents house in Tarrytown. I also worked in Rockland for 10 years.rogercaplan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:14 pm We're in Westchester (Irvington). I don't suppose there are any meetups or clubs in the area?
I've been looking for something like a club locally too and haven't found anything yet. There are a couple other members here on this forum who just joined who are in NY or Northern NJ and interested in meeting as well. Funny we're all meeting here on a UK based forum.
It'd likely be no issue at all to meet at one of our state parks. I know of a RC content creator who films up state in state parks all the time.rogercaplan wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:14 pmI've been mostly into rc planes, generally 3d printed. We should put something together.

It’s an invasion from across the pond.

Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute. A challenger. That’ll teach you and your children about tank mechanics, and maintenance.
