Herr Doc's Famo
Re: Herr Doc's Famo
How many Famos do I need to tow 1 of my Tigers? 3, 4?

Re: Herr Doc's Famo
I have seen a few photos of FAMOs towing Tigers, and at least two seems to be the requirement. One seems to have been sufficient to tow a Panzer II, III, or IV. I had the idea that after I get my FAMO working, it might tow a static kit of a small to medium tank if I can get the tank's tracks to roll somewhat freely. But that idea is amid a few hundred others.

Re: Herr Doc's Famo
The official German Army orders specified that it would be a Courts Martial offence for one Tiger 1 to tow another Tiger 1 and yet there are plenty of photographs showing exactly that occurring
Officially a minimum of 2 Famos were required but there were never enough available hence Tiger towing Tiger

Absolutely just as long as the crew of the broken down Tiger knew that only 2.500 Famos were built so getting one let alone 4 to arrive could depending where they were located be a bit of a problem

Are these Famos pulling disabled 321?

Probably. Took a lot of them to pull a Tiger.

Re: Herr Doc's Famo
Hallelujah! The SGS MFU arrived today after a month-long trip overseas! I have it working, but with some strange behavior. When I turn the steering servo, the sound quits, to start up readily with a slight touch on the throttle. This one should drive me bananas! Then, too, there is a return of a problem I though I had solved months ago: the tracks climb up on the sprockets. It may be an alignment problem.

You know static Famos are cool too.
