Spain was in a mess due to the Spanish Civil War, where the Germans had been practicing for war with the Condor legion.

The Japs really started it in 1931 but it wasn't called a world war unitl all the major players got involved later on in 1939.
What a waste of lives war is.  I just wish there was another way.

Politicians/ Dictators start wars. They should be made to fight them. make Gordon Brown and every other mp, go out on foot patrol in Helmend province in Afghanistan and this war would be over tomorrow.
Do you realize how much I hate this uniform and all it stands for. ( Cross of Iron )
