Deep wading Sherman 119th Tank Battalion

Post by dgsselkirk »

This is my my interpretation of a famous picture of an M4A1from the 119th Tank Battalion with deep wading gear after landing at the beach in Salerno in 1943. This tank uses the MATO full metal bottom with the long out of production MATO M4A1 plastic upper. My good friend Tom T. 3D printed me the wading gear. The front 3 Piece transmission cover, the IR kit, stowage, is from DGS Military Hobby. Thanks to Big Mike for the 3D printed mounting internals. The tank is powered by a TK50sbus board that, as I explained in the video, going to be replaced with the proper engine sounds. have a few details to add and gotta fix those taillights!!! LOL! As always subscribe to see lots of different and unique 1/16 RC Tank videos!

That looks tremendous! I like the look but always have been afraid to tackle that project.

I have one or two of those ;)

Be still my beating heart: it's a cast hull M4 with a cast turret! And you say it's a "MATO full metal bottom with the long out of production MATO M4A1 plastic upper." ??? My "long out of production" MATO M4A1 has the large turret. Were there two versions of that old MATO plastic M4?

Wading stacks looks great. Mato hull is late type (big hatches) but there is no easy way to get the correct early small hatch hull (apart from Nick's resin one and maybe 3D printing).

Sorry, I should have pointed out this is a replacement low bustle turret from one of my out of production Firefly kits. Sorry!

Yes, as I said my interpretation of one. :-) Yes, production of the large hatch didn't start until Dec. 43 I could have modified it but meh, too much work! :-)

Here are the files. My buddy Tom modified them from this file a little to make them more rounded but you can use these. 28 hours of print time and printed with PETG.
