A new one

Post by worthincj »

Hi everyone. Charlie here. Been a modeler all my long life (70+) and just now am getting in to RC. Picked up a Tamiya King Tiger 1/16 scale in a yard sale and had a blast putting it together. It's the one with the two clutch system and is working beautifully. Learning more every day about RC control. Caught the bug. Now I am working on a Henglong Tiger one (Pro Version) with metal tracks and road wheels, 360 turret, steel gears, recoil, and BBs . Doing the Taigen lower and making some changes to make it as accurate as is possible. I'm not big on the BBs but would like to put a smoke and flash in it. I want to keep the recoil. Problem is the 7.0 system. I know there is a smoke and flash system out there but I'm not sure if the 7.0 control is compatible as the only information I have found is for the 7.1 with it's different plug-ins. I'm also not crazy about how the recoil works ; recoil, then sound. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Welcome aboard Charlie! HLs 6.0 and 7.0 do not have servo control (at least not easily). The 6.1 and 7.1 version do. On the airsoft (bb) there is a micro switch activated by the BB firing which is probably why you are getting movement before sound.

Working dual clutch systems are getting rare. Again, welcome to the forum.

Gday mate and welcome along.
The V7 IS able to run the new barrel smoke system easily. However. That would mean the permanent loss of the BB system.
That said, you are already seeing past the need for the BB.
If you get a barrel smoke system and install it, it will work, so will your recoil on the V7 board.
The recoil you have is back-to-front, i.e. it is slow back -fast out. But its better than no recoil.

This will be of huge assistance.

Good luck matey & please bung up pictures when you can

Hello Charlie: your story is just like mine, right down to the 70+ Except you started with a Tamiya: nice! Yes, photos and even a "build" thread would be great if you like. And questions are welcome--as well as advice from you.

Hullo Charlie. I have Tamiya Leopard with the twin clutch. How simple they are, but how expensive they were in their time. Heading down the rabbit hole of tigers is fun. I never wanted a tiger, but ended up with one.
