Glue

Post by menright »

Hi, just wondering what type of glue people use to fix rubber pads to metal tracks. I have some smooth aluminium track plates which I want to glue rubber pads to. Some say super glue, some contact, any views?
Thanks Mark

How about E6000, once known as "Shoe Goo"? It has been discussed and recommended frequently. Use the search box in the upper right and type in "E6000."

Yeah, that's the stuff. Strong grip but a bit of flex.

Just thought I would add an update to my, having fun gluing pads onto tank track plates. The plates are 3mm aluminium and the pads: 25mm x 90mm x 9mm Rubber
E6000plus, bonded well to the aluminium but not on rubber. JB WeldRed, again stuck well to the metal not to the rubber. Standard Silicone glue, useless. Best of all was Gorilla Super Glue. Very strong bond to metal and excellent on the rubber. You can see my progress here:https://podpadstudios.blogspot.com

What a fantastic build, and appears heavy duty! How much are you thinking the finished tank will weigh in at?

Currently at 53kg for base and tracks. Once the top section and all electronics are in it should be around 100kg.
