Well that's the issue and the type of projectile has to be round, yet thin enough to explode on impact and survive the shock of firing,I guess it cannot hurt to try.My original H/L Tiger turret is a spare for testing.Perhaps so type of mold and a glue mixture with the flint and powder mix?Sax

Looking at this from the airsoft side, the usual advice is to steer well clear of these 6mm paint balls. BUT... the main problem is the paintball "popping" in the magazine. Most airsoft guns put the bb's under quite a lot of pressure while feeding them upto the firing mechanism, and its this that causes them to break. If it happens the paint then clogs the mag and gets into the firing mechanism... messy and a real pain to clean out.

With the bb firing HL tanks i've known (Tiger 1 & Bulldog) the bb's are gravity fed from a hopper and dont get squeezed like in an airsoft mag. So the first time they get any rough treatment should be in the barrel when they get fired? Which should be a lot easier to clean out if the worst happens.

My main concern would be the low power HL bb tanks fire as is pretty poor and i dont think they have any hop up. The 3 or 4 tanks i've encountered bearly achive any kind of flat trajectory before the bb starts dropping off. Max range with highest barrel angle possible is probably 5-6 meters? Maybe i've just have dodgy tanks but didnt think it'd be much of a battle.

How do you guys get on? Are you modifing them for more power?
You aint gettin me on no plane fool!

Paint balls can break in a tank when they get slammed into the barrel just before the plunger is released.

The BB pellets falls into the breach then the part with the nozzle on (the bit with the plunger in) springs forward and pushes the BB pellet into the barrel. This can sometimes burst the paintball pellet.

Creeping death gun system is rated at 170fps,that being said I have yet to see that kind of performance. The gun and seal along with a different length barrel is how they achieve the fps.I know their gun, when it did fire went further and straighter than my stock gun.C/D does not recommend using paintball ammo.Sax

I also had the same experiences with paintballs with them rupturing in the breech, there is also a problem with inconsistent diameters with these and I had to check each with a small hole template to help reduce ruptures.  About 1 in 5 was the proper diameter.  Here's an alternative to paintballs that someone posted on the RCU forum. I just ordered some and haven't received them yet, but this could possibly eliminate the paint stains on our tanks.  Contrary to what some will tell you, these paintballs DO stain... ask the wife or look at the side of my shed in the back yard!

There is a demo video link in the upper left corner of the page.  Sax - I told Shelby about these also and he was getting some to check out on the new gun system.

Almost forgot... these are .20 gram BBs so performance will be reduced a bit in lower powered guns.  I'm also using a Creeping Death turret and the .20g don't shoot as hard/far as the .12 gram BBs do

ERN,have you had a good experiance with your C/D turret? I have had many problems, and will find out in about two hours how this very modified gun works. Now I'm not throwing stones at Shelby,he did offer my a free gun when he releases his new system,I guess what I would really like to know is do you feel that it is achieving the FPS that it is rated? Ern and sax are getting free guns. Ern is quite simply one of the best guys we ever dealed with and a true gentleman. Sax is one of the best troopers we have met also. both of these fellows are a credit to the hobby. Sax and I have logged alot of hours and turrets trying to get that system to work and just for all the time and effort these guys deserve the best and thats whats coming.
the trick for paintball firing as stated is a way to load the paintball softly as possible and we found a way to do it and so much more. right now we are tied up in so much legal bs and red tape its delayed the release of the system. we are fighting for the rights to all the mechs and parts, talk about frustrating its dealing with the slow patent system and laws made in the late 1800's. just when things looked good it all bogged up because of two documents being filed incorrectly. thats is very fustrating indeed!!!

I for one hope you can perfect a paintball system and get it patten'd. I would love to know how you get on. Thank you all for the help and advice so far on this post.

                        Many regards, Luke ;D ;D
